Our story is rooted in family and a lifelong love of gardening. What began as simple days in the garden alongside my grandpa, father, and mother grew into something much deeper—a lasting appreciation for the patience, beauty, and reward that come from nurturing life from seed to harvest.
For years, I tended a handful of plants at my small in-town home, keeping the tradition alive on a modest scale. But in 2017, a move to a larger property allowed that quiet passion to blossom into something much more—a full-fledged obsession and, in time, a personal form of therapy.
Over the past eight years, that passion has evolved into a mission: to grow, curate, and share the incredible diversity and history of tomatoes. Each variety carries a story—of families, places, and seasons past—and through careful stewardship, those stories continue to live on.
Here, you’ll find more than just seeds. You’ll find history, flavor, and connection—tomatoes that can take root in your own garden and become part of your story too.
We take great pride in the varieties we offer. Each one has been carefully chosen not only for its beauty and flavor but for the story it carries. My winters are spent researching and sourcing new and unusual varieties, as well as tracking down those that time has nearly forgotten.
Every tomato in our collection represents hours of study and discovery. I meticulously research each variety’s origins, ensuring that the histories and stories of the people who bred, grew, and preserved them are honored and shared. In doing so, I hope to connect you—not just to the fruit itself—but to the generations of gardeners and seed savers who made it possible.
At Home Grown in Illinois, I believe that exceptional customer service is just as important as offering top-quality seeds. Every order is personal, and every gardener’s experience matters. Whether you’re looking for advice, have questions about a variety, or simply want to share your growing success, I’m always here to help.
Because at the heart of this work is connection—between grower and gardener, past and present, seed and story.
